Palm Beach Gardens, a city in South Florida is part of Palm Beach County and is one of the northern most communities that make up the Miami Metropolitan area. Sprawling across 55.3 square miles, Palm Beach Gardens has a population of approximately 60,000 on land that was originally comprised of cattle ranches, pine forests and swamp lands prior to the1960’s. In 1959 real estate developer John D. MacArthur imagined and chartered a garden city named Palm Beach Gardens with a population of 50,000 and started to develop 4,000 acres for his proposed community. While it took close to a half-century for Palm Beach Gardens to reach MacArthur’s population goal, the city of Palm Beach Gardens today is a popular place to live and visit.

The city’s founder is recognized throughout the Palm Beach Gardens area. The John D. MacArthur Beach State Park holds the distinction of being the only state park in Palm Beach County. It features over 1.6 miles of pristine beaches facing the Atlantic Ocean. MacArthur Boulevard, located in southern sector of the city, is a popular north/south route for city commuters and visitors.

The PGA National Resort, situated in western Palm Beach Gardens, is one of community’s largest employers. The Palm Beach Gardens resort offers six championship golf courses and is the home of the annual Honda Golf Classic tournament.  Until recently, the professional golf organization also had their corporate headquarters in Palm Beach Gardens. There are also 12 golf courses within the Palm Beach Gardens’ city limits, including a course owned by the city.

Palm Beach Gardens is also the home of the Gardens Mall, located just east of I-95 and PGA Boulevard. The two-story shopping complex features a wide array of dining venues, popular department stores: Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales and Nordstrom, along with luxury retailers Tiffany, Louis Vuitton and Gucci. Other popular shopping and dining venues in the community include Midtown, Legacy Place and Downtown at the Gardens.
